Who Is SUIQE? ★

SUIQE is a multidisciplinary artist, born on November 13, 2000, in New Jersey, who has established himself in the music and visual arts industries as a musician, performer, videographer, director, artist, photographer, mix/master engineer, and collaborator.

As a curious child, I spent a lot of time exploring every piece of wherever I was. Every corner of every room, under things, over things, etc. Even as a kid, I would sneak into the neighbors' houses just to see what their place looked like. But what I realized I was most fascinated by was the art supplies in my own attic, which my sisters had left behind when they weren’t around or after they moved out. I would always dig through their leftover supplies to see what I could use for myself. These markers, colored pencils, and paints became the building blocks of my artistic expression.

Growing up, I was the baby in the family. My sisters and cousins were all older, busy with their lives—some serving in the Marines and Army. As a result, I often found myself alone, but one thing I noticed whenever our family gathered was that everyone shared a love for art.

I turned to drawing in my sketchbook as a way to cope with the loneliness and feel more connected to my family.

Alongside my creative journey, my uncle—who was more like an older brother—played a significant role, guiding me through the pivotal years of adolescence (from age 10 to 8th grade) and instilling in me the values of hard work, dedication, and personal style. Laying the foundation for me to become an artist of my own.

Around 2010 is when I became interested in making music and got my hands on an Ableton trial, which came with purchasing a MIDI keyboard. At the time, it was too complicated for me to understand, so my uncle asked if I would trust him to keep the MIDI safe until I was old enough to come back to it, which I eventually did in the 8th grade in 2013.

Around this same time, he planned to leave New Jersey intending to disconnect from the internet, work, friends, and acquaintances to focus on his art. His goal was to dedicate the next few years to creating five personal paintings dedicated to those closest to him. Which gave me the space and time to independently continue and expand upon his studies and inspiration. I used this period to plan my next few years, aiming to launch my career by the year 2020 and release five EP’s to match his paintings.
